Although I was born in Somalia, I have lived my whole life between France and the UK. Today, I’m a French citizen, I’m a European citizen, and I was also, once, an immigrant and a refugee. So yes, the “accidental” turns in my life influenced me in defining my European identity. Working with French Government agencies and implementing European projects throughout my career, I realized how much European regulations can affect French policies and the general population in their everyday lives. That is why I believe it is important that everyone feels implicated in regional policies and identify themselves as an integral part of EU politics. Because no system is perfect, I am confident that the disruptive approach Accidental European brings by sharing diverse & comparative perspectives can contribute to upgrading policy and giving more people a role in shaping it.
